Mateo Perez-Barrero serves as a Financial Analyst at Cary Stamp & Co., where he is gaining hands-on exposure to the wealth management industry. Currently working behind the scenes, Mateo is laying the groundwork for a career focused on meaningful client relationships, with plans to become a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® / CFP® professional. He’s always been drawn to roles that combine personal connection with purpose, and wealth management offers the opportunity to build trust, make an impact, and grow alongside others.
Mateo was born in New York and spent his early years there before moving to Miami at age 8. The blend of Northeast hustle and South Florida resilience continues to shape his identity. His upbringing was influenced by two father figures: a stepfather in the military who modeled discipline and consistency, and a business-savvy father in New York whose relentless work ethic left a lasting impression.
That combination of grit and warmth made finance a natural fit. While pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Finance at Florida State University, Mateo also double-majored in Professional Sales. His passion for building strong, authentic connections led him to an internship at a boutique wealth management firm in Tallahassee. Watching the lead advisor support clients through their financial journeys helped him realize that this field is about more than just numbers — it’s about trust, empathy, and long-term partnership.
On campus, Mateo served as a Career Center Ambassador, helping fellow students explore networking opportunities and job resources. He also discovered a love for pickleball at the FSU courts, a hobby he still enjoys today.
Now based in Jupiter, Florida, Mateo is continuing to grow both personally and professionally. Outside the office, he enjoys cooking, playing with his dog Ceasar (a loyal American Staffordshire Terrier), and attending live sports events. Recently, he began learning piano, fulfilling a childhood dream. His personal motto, “Aim to be better than you were yesterday,” reflects the mindset he brings to each day.
As he works toward earning his CFP® certification, Mateo is building a future in financial advising—grounded in discipline, people-first values, and a passion for helping others succeed.
